John Cavanaugh has 35+ progressive years of successfully managing (BSEE, MBA, ITIL, CISSP) client expectations in IT and cybersecurity engagements. His expertise includes cybersecurity compliance, machine learning/Artificial Intelligence, blockchain and databases, digital transformation, IT architecture and engineering, supply chain and vendor management, and industrial control systems, including smart utility grids.
Mr. Cavanaugh has helped leading financial institutions and other global corporations achieve cultural change and improved profits through the implementation and acceptance of technology solutions. He has helped organizations plan for and invest in new technology opportunities and has assisted cybersecurity teams liaise with business units and IT executives. He has extensive experience with strategic planning of risk reduction/cost savings opportunities across business units worldwide, as well as with IT in the development and delivery of these solutions.

Mr. Cavanaugh has architected business risk policy/process/procedure methodologies to support NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) cybersecurity improvements for the utility industry, including 5 tier architecture, SCADA physical controls, physical and electronic security perimeters access control, business continuity planning, and security risk analysis.

Previous to that, Mr. Cavanaugh spent 10 years in the Global Supply Chain field, designing and managing client projects in the use of Radio Frequency computer solutions in manufacturing and distributor warehouses, EDI and real time messaging data communication solutions, and defining solutions in the forecasting/procurement-manufacturing/fulfillment space with proven technology supports and extensions to client SAP & Oracle business systems.
Mr. Cavanaugh’s career began in the 70’s with military projects (Cruise Missile and M-1 Tank) and proceeded into procurement and inventory control systems for the largest secondary copper and gold refinery in the world. He developed workflow control requisition and automated purchasing systems for the US purchasing operation and managed the International procurement of North American goods for the jointly owned and EXIM Bank financed refining operations in Zambia.
Mr. Cavanaugh is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and trained in North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP) requirements. He is ITIL certified. Mr. Cavanaugh received his MBA from Rutgers Graduate School of Management and has a BS in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Design from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
